The US Buffalo nickel (or Indian Head nickel) was minted from 1913 - 1938, before being replaced by the current Jefferson nickel. Designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser, the obverse of the coin depicts an American Indian, which is a composite image of multiple American Indian chiefs, notably Iron Tail and Two Moons.
