Sharing some similar DNA with modern day octopuses, Maltipus use their tentacles to wrap around prey and inject a specialized venom that crystalizes the sodium found in blood. Found near the coastal salt waters in the tropics, there is so much salt present in the ecosystem that there are no known immunities. The females are small, but their venom is potent enough to take out any living creature in the ocean.
