Believed to be the immortal children of gods who forever stay an infant, Puffs produce a pheromone in its wings that hijacks a human's paternal instincts, so they will abandon everything else to care and feed the Puff for life as if it was their own child. The pheromone is so strong, it can prioritize care for itself over any other obligation in the human's life. If the human loses the ability to care for it according to the Puff's standards, the parent then offers themselves as food in a final gesture of care. The puffs then fly in search of another caretaker to begin the process again. Female Puffs seek out other female humans to care for it, while the male Puffs prefer the care of a human male.
