A living spirit guardian in the ethereal plane, the Protector Seishin attaches itself to what it believes it the most kind and loving soul of a living human it can find. It becomes incredibly attached to the person and has carries an impossible sense of right and wrong and always end up turning on the human they once loved if they are anything less than perfect. Humans being humans and the Seishin believing it could be a better person than them, attempt to possess the body every night while they sleep. Rarely successful, the nightly hauntings and possession attempts drive the humans mad, further straying them from the Seishin's view of perfection.
