Distant relatives to modern day rabbits, the Sleeping Usagi is known to sleep for decades at a time. They find a safe place to rest, and their body temperatures drop to match the ambient temperature and remain undetected by potential predators. Their characteristic look is from vegetation growing on their fur from sleeping motionless for so long. The males are known to live shorter lives than the females, and sleep for fewer years at a time.
