This sculpture cleverly combines the visual elements of a sandwich and a stack of bedding. The top layer appears as an oversized submarine sandwich, complete with meat, cheese, and vegetables between a sesame-seeded bun. Below this are what appear to be stacked bedding items - pillows, comforters, and blankets in various neutral tones of white, beige, and charcoal gray, with one striking orange layer. The piece plays with scale and material, making the familiar forms of both comfort food and comfortable bedding into a single, unified stack. The installation sits on what appears to be a light-colored platform in a gallery space with white walls. The juxtaposition of the sandwich and bedding creates a literal interpretation of "comfort food," merging two different forms of comfort into one sculptural piece.
