Shimmering, golden, and believed by some to be a god of death, the Golden Shinigami appears nightly to those who are destined to die within a week. Similar to sleep paralysis, it appears while the person is sleeping, who feels a rush of cold air as they become unable to move anything besides their eyes. The light generated from its body is near blinding and mesmerizing to the point where the person is unable to look away, calms down, and begins to look forward to its appearance when realizing it returns nightly. Though the Golden Shinigami is not the cause of death, the reason and ability to sense those destined to die remains a mystery.
